CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)-Plans for the next academic year.

The teaching staff are now beginning to return to the School to resume their academic activities. They are working at a pace to change the way we deliver our courses. Moving forward, we will be using blended and e-learning methods. We aim to roll out the modules, which were postponed during the initial stages of COVID-19, in a phased approach, starting in September 2020, over an eight-month period. This is in line with Health Education England (HEE) who have proposed an extension to the education contract period. This is to allow time for the recovery of commissions that were postponed due to the pandemic.

As you will recognise because of COVID-19, plans are constantly changing so we will, as the situation evolves, endeavour to keep you informed. The health and wellbeing of our staff and students are our absolute priority.

If you do have any questions or concerns, please refer to our Student Q&A page or contact us at Student Support Services for more information.

The Royal Marsden

Why study at The Royal Marsden?

For over a century and a half, The Royal Marsden has been at the forefront in understanding cancer and developing the knowledge necessary to improve cancer treatment.

The Royal Marsden School was created and shaped by a passion and commitment to share that knowledge, and to enable healthcare professionals to make a positive difference in the field of cancer care

Cancer education from clinical practitioners

Today, we pride ourselves in being the UK’s only dedicated provider of cancer education leading to academic qualifications. All of our academic team are actively involved in clinical practice, and our students’ feedback tells us how important this is to their learning experience. As well as taking active roles in clinical practice at The Royal Marsden, all our lecturer practitioners and programme leaders provide educational support to other organisations across London, the UK and globally.

Clinical specialists from other organisations also contribute their expertise and enthusiasm to our pathways. Consultant oncologists, lead therapists and clinical research fellows all teach on our courses. No other provider of cancer care education can draw on expertise from such high-quality specialists, many of them internationally recognised experts within their own fields.

Benefit to students

We place great emphasis on the depth and breadth of our academic resources. In assessing their overall learning experience, our students comment favourably on how greatly they benefit from access to academic staff and specialist clinicians.

With The Royal Marsden at the leading edge of developments in cancer care, treatment and research, we recognise the need to continually update and develop our pathways to keep pace with the changing needs of the health professionals working in this field. This, together with unrivalled access to dedicated, high-quality specialists and resources, as well as our determination to provide healthcare professionals with a supportive learning environment, makes The Royal Marsden School the ideal choice for your cancer education.
