Course summary

This module focuses on the impact that cancer can have on all aspects of individuals lives. The module will review issues along the age continuum, focussing on the psychological and social implications that cancer may have, so that healthcare professionals are better prepared to deliver high quality holistic care to individuals and their families. Students will explore ways to assess the psycho-social impact of cancer, as well as interventions that may help the individual and their families to manage issues.

The best features of this module were meeting a cancer patient who spoke of her experience and understanding the patients’ perspective, such as returning to work and body image.
